“We should listen to anybody who has evidence to prove a crime,” he said during a recent television interview

On May 25, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra ended placing Napoles provisionally under the Witness Protection Program (WPP) of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

“That is the prerogative and discretion of the Secretary of Justice because the Witness Protection Program is under the Department of Justice,” the Solicitor General.said.

“However, if Janet Napoles has evidence to link other recipients of the DAP (Disbursement Accelerated Program) or PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund), why don’t we listen to her?” he asked.

“We all know who were indicted were the enemies of the former president (Benigno Aquino III), like Jinggoy Estrada, Bong Revilla, and JPE (Juan Ponce Enrile. How about the other senators and congressmen?” Calida pointed out.

Since Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales will be ending her term on July 26, Calida said the new Ombudsman could conduct a deeper probe in the DAP and PDAF scams.

“No one should be allowed to go scot-free. These are millions and millions of government money,” he said.
