Villasis, Pangasinan — A veteran mediaman based in this province was killed and his companion injured when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a Mitsubishi Montero along the Villasis-Malasiqui national road in Barangay Barraca, here last Tuesday morning.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the fatality as Allan Tigulo, 48, a reporter in the local paper District News Buster and broadcaster in DZRD Sonshine Radio and DWPR Power Radio Dagupan. He was a resident of Barangay Babasit in Manaoag.

The PPO said Tigulo was driving a Euro motorcycle in the east direction with his backrider, 24-year-old Chemberly Lumbania, when a Mitsubishi Montero struck them as it crossed the road at 11:10 a.m.

Probers said the Montero (NS-9162), driven by Jaime Rara, 65, a widower from Urdaneta City, came from the by-pass road from Puelay when it crossed the national road and collided with the motorcycle.

Sustaining severe injuries, Tigulo and Lumbania were taken to the Dr. Marcelo Chan Hospital in Rosales for treatment, but Tigulo succumbed to his head injury at 2:30 p.m. of the same day.

Rara, police said, was detained and is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and physical injuries.
