Expect heavy traffic in Makati City on Saturday, June 2, as some roads will be closed to pave way for the parade and street party which will be held in the afternoon until midnight.
According to the Makati Public Safety Department (PSD), the stretch of Makati Avenue (from J.P. Rizal St. to Kalayaan Avenue) will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1 a.m. onwards on June 2
Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic and take the following alternate routes: Vehicles coming from Mandaluyong and Guadalupe areas going to Ayala Ave.: Take J.P. Rizal St. towards destination. Vehicles going to Mandaluyong and J.P. Rizal areas: Take P. Burgos St. towards destination. Vehicles going to J.P. Rizal: Take P. Burgos St. towards destination.
The event is part of ‘Makati Makisalo’ ten-day fest marking the city’s 348th founding anniversary.
Makati Mayor Abigail Binay said the street party will be open to the public and will feature popular rock, indie and acoustic bands, and various local artists.
“Everyone is welcome to join and celebrate with us. It is also an opportune time for (citizens of Makati), especially the youth, to mingle with their local leaders in a casual setting. I am sure the millennials will have a great time watching the live performances of their favorite bands and artists,” she said.
