According to Collider, since Lincoln plays a major role in the series, his co-star Norman Reedus, who plays the character of Daryl Dixon, will take over the lead for the upcoming seasons.

The story of ‘The Walking Dead’ primarily centers on the lives of Rick Grimes, his family, and the friends that he met during the apocalypse. Last season, Chandler Riggs, who starred as Rick’s son Carl Grimes, bid goodbye to the show after being bitten by a zombie.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that Lauren Cohan, whose character is Maggie Greene, will be cast back on this season. “There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell,” said Cohan in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at CinemaCon.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 9 will premiere on AMC in October.
