PAF to investigate ‘Huey’ helicopter’s emergency landing in Zamboanga

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Wednesday said that it is currently conducting an investigation after a UH-1H Huey helicopter made an emergency landing at Ayala area in Zamboanga City.

PAF Spokesman Major Aristides M. Galang said the PAF sent a team to the area to conduct an investigation to determine the reason behind the incident.

It was learned that a UH-1H Huey helicopter No. 504 departed from the Edwin Andrews Airbase in Zamboanga City at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

While on a routine training flight, the helicopter encountered an in-flight emergency and made a precautionary landing at Ayala area, Zamboanga City.

Galang said the aircraft incurred damages but the pilots and crews were not injured.
He said there is no word yet from PAF officials if the other Huey helicopters in the inventory of PAF will be grounded.

“As of now, we are waiting for information regarding the grounding of the Hueys. There were two pilots and two crew on board the chopper but they were not harmed,” he said.
