An incoming barangay chairman was found dead by his wife with a gunshot wound to the head in Barangay Naguilian Norte, City of Ilagan, Isabela.

A belated report from the Cagayan Valley regional police identified the fatality as Saturnino Casue, 49, of Barangay Naguilian Norte.
The victim’s wife said she was awakened by the sound of gunfire at around 5:30a.m. last Sunday. When she went downstairs to investigate, she saw her bloodied husband slumped on the floor.
The police recovered a .45 caliber pistol and a spent shell. Investigators are still trying to determine whether or not the newly-elected barangay chairman killed himself or foul play was involved.
