Palo, Leyte — The Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) First Leyte Engineering District Office said warning signs have been installed in all its infrastructure projects as required by law.

District Engineer Johnny M. Acosta said all the projects are provided with early warning signs 150 meters before the project and it is also well lighted at night.

Acosta made the statement in reaction to the accident |Tuesday night involving a passenger bus at the bridge in Barangay Buntay, Tanauan, Leyte.

He said the ongoing bridge-widening project had early warning signs and proper lighting.

Acosta said the accident that killed four passengers was caused by human error, since the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

It was the first time an accident happened at the bridge, Acosta said.
