Cebu City – Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is willing to give P1-million worth of financial assistance to all Sanguniang Kabataan (SK) officials who will support his administration.
And for all those who will choose not to support him, Osmeña said they will get nothing from his administration.
According to Osmeña, if all SKs in 80 barangays in Cebu City will support him despite the existing political division in the local government, then he will not think twice in of giving out the P1-million financial support to the youth leaders.
“I’m willing to give a million pesos for SKs if they support me, I’ll give one million all of them, all or nothing, if they want to follow Team Rama I will give nothing, If I’ll get the support of the SK’s they will get one million each,” he said.
Osmeña said that he will not dictate on how the SK officials will utilize the P1 million in assistance he will extend those who will support his administration.
But he also clarified that what he was doing was not an attempt to bribe the youth leaders. It was just an election promise that he plans to fulfill.
The SK Federation election was held Monday. The result of the election will affect the political situation at the Cebu City Hall, since Osmeña has accused the opposition of blocking his projects.
The City Council is currently dominated by the opposition bloc Barug Team Rama-PDP Laban, but the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), which is headed by Osmeña, is tipped to seize control of the council as more barangay chairpersons allied with BOPK won in the recent Barangay and SK elections.
