The TUCP had proposed anP800 daily wage compared with the current more than P500 daily wage.

Legarda said employers have to be consulted to determine what is the reasonable increase that they can take.

She stressed that she has been filing bills to increase the daily wage of the labor force since she became a lawmaker.

The wage increase was proposed by the TUCP following increases in the prices of consumer goods and oil products triggered by the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law.

Legarda said the Senate should always help the labor sector as revenues from the TRAIN law should not only be for the administration’s Build Build Build infrastructure program but for human capital.

An increase in the daily wage has an impact on the coming 2019 national budget that the Executive branch would submit to Congress after the President has delivered his State of the Nation Address (SONA) every fourth Monday of July in joint session of the Senate and he House of Representatives.
