Tagbilaran City –  Bohol 2nd District Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado on Sunday said there is a strong possibility that a shipyard will soon to rise in the northern town of Buenavista, which will generate employment opportunities for locals in the area.

In a statement, Aumentado said he met with representatives of a company working to establish a shipyard in Buenavista town.

Buenavista town is about two and a half hours north of Tagbilaran City.

The executives of the company also met with Buenavista town mayor Ronald Lowell Tirol to discuss the plans and to scout for potential areas for the location of the future shipyard.

Aumentado, however, stressed the importance of balancing the eco-cultural tourism, agricultural and industrial growth and development of  the province.

Earlier, Aumentado filed a bill in the Lower House seeking to outlaw the establishment of a coal-fire plant in the second district of Bohol in an attempt to counter potential damage caused by coal power plants to the province’s environment.
