Avon has always been a company known for proudly standing by beauty, innovation, and optimism for women all over the world. As Avon celebrates its 40th year in the Philippines—and its 130th year globally—it continues to support this cause. This time, it encourages women to break society’s mold as it gives new meaning to the term “comfort zone.”
Avon Fashions disrupts the meaning of “comfort zone” from being one’s safe place and redefines it as the place where every woman’s true passion and purpose begin. Avon Philippines executive director for commercial marketing Agnieszka Isa shares, “As Avon, we have been empowering women, and today, on top of that, we want to also encourage women to start taking the bold stand, in telling in a courageous matter of what they really define as their comfort zone.”
To celebrate this theme, Avon Fashions recently held a fashion show that turned the spotlight on five inspiring Filipino women, each one with her own story to tell on how she defined her comfort zone: Wilma Doesnt, Alice Dixson, Tricia Centenera, Hidilyn Diaz, and Jennylyn Mercado. They have defined their own successes and have found purpose for their cause.
For Filipina supermodel and actress/comedian Wilma Doesnt, she has become comfortable in her own skin as she tried on the intimate apparel of Avon Fashions. She admits that a problem Filipino women face with their intimate apparel is that their body shape makes wearing underwire bras uncomfortable. “But with this one, it’s comfortable— and affordable!” she laughs. On a more serious note, Wilma inspires women to live the life they want despite the judgment they might face. Apart from being a model, actress, and a mom, Doesnt also has her own school, the Manila International Integrated Learning Center (MICC).
Actress Alice Dixson describes “living life in your own terms” as defining her own pace and giving importance to staying in her element. Unfazed even after a long break from her showbiz career, Dixson has managed to make a comeback and is still one of the most sought-after actresses of her generation.
Entrepreneur and lifestyle host Tricia Centenera talks about how she found her comfort zone as she bounced back from a failed marriage and created a new and fulfilling life for herself. “You get to your comfort zone by being okay with what you are actually going through. A huge part [of it] is acceptance.” She adds, “Bad stuff happens to good people all the time. It’s really hard to find the answer when you are in your deepest and darkest, and this is where faith and people around you come in.”
Weightlifter and Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz shares the struggles of being a woman in her sport and the hindrances she faced before achieving glory. From her point of view, women who are in sports like her are too sheltered. She needed to realize early on that she had to be comfortable with her body. Her advice to other women out there? “Love what you have, whatever body type you have, whether it’s like me, macho and small, love what you have and that will be your strength as a person.”
For actress and single mom Jennylyn Mercado, raising a child alone had numerous challenges and finding comfort in taking on multiple roles in life wasn’t easy. “I believe that all women deserve to enjoy who they truly are, because no one else can define that for us,” she says. Mercado adds that comfort should start from within, “It starts when you are comfortable with what you are wearing with your intimate apparel, because if you are comfortable it will show in your face that you are happy and relaxed.”
Avon Fashions boldly invites Filipino women to step into your comfort zone of what fills your heart. Through a range of intimate apparel that provides women with the stylish comfort they deserve, women can easily focus on the things that truly matter. Each bra is designed with the Filipina body in mind, ensuring that it fits her body not just flawlessly but comfortably. Every finished creation has undergone rigorous testing to make sure that it can keep up with even the most demanding of lifestyles.
The Avon Fashions Intimate Apparel now calls on all women to confidently walk the path they’ve always wanted to walk on, to play the role they’ve always wanted to play, and to ultimately define their own successes. “At the heart of Avon’s work is a passion to create a world with more empowered women—whether through business, beauty, or well-being. Through this new Avon Fashions Intimate Apparel campaign, we hope to inspire women to break free from unreasonable societal constraints and become whoever they want to be,” concludes Isa.
