Police reported no casualties in the by-pass road accident on Daanghari Road and Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay Anabu at 11:45 p.m.

The beam collapse damaged a parked truck of JBL Builders, the constructing firm, and a motorcycle of an Imus Traffic Management officer parked under the flyover, police said.

The local police said they would hold two crane operators namely Ronido Morga and Bernabe Chavez for investigation.

Initial report released by Senior Superintendent William M. Segun, Cavite Police Provincial Office director, said that the flyover contractor is one William Uy and the construction is being done under joint venture with JBL Builders.

JBL Project in-charge contractor Jong Ilupit said that the accident happened they were installing the last guirdel at the site.

The crane accidentally hit the flyover capping beam and, as a domino effect, cause all the remaining five flyover guilders to fall.

“The crane operator miscalculated (the swift) and hit the flyover beam and the (eventual) fall of five guilders,” Ilupit told police.

PPO Commander Segun assured that safety measures are in place following the accident.
The police and other concerned authorities had cordoned the area, making the site roads impassable to all vehicles.

The Department of PublicWorks and Highways (DPWH) officials said that they would look into the flyover collapse.

The flyover accident caused traffic jam in the area and stranded thousands, mostly early workers, waiting for public utility rides along Aguinaldo Highway on Sunday morning.

The Daanghari Road-Aguinaldo Highway By-Pass Road construction had been going on for two years. The flyover was reported earlier worth P300-million. Officials said that construction was targeted to be finished this year.

The flyover is the first and only flyover in Imus.

The 120-meter width-short distance-flyover road on Aguinaldo Highway connects the Daanghari and the Anabu main roads leading to Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX). The construction is halfway finished, it was observed.
The flyover construction is one of the pet projects of Third District (Imus) Representative Alex L. Advincula and the local government under Mayor Emmanuel Leonardo Maliksi.

The officials said that the flyover would ease the traffic flow along Aguinaldo Highway and Daanghari Road once the construction is finished.
