According to the victim’s daughter, Ruth, she saw her mother step out of their residence to sweep away dry leaves in front of their house in Pag-asa compound along Tandang Sora Avenue at around 5:25 a.m.

Minutes later, she heard a crashing sound.

When she went out to investigate, she saw her mother slumped on the ground, pinned by a broken segment of a crane from the ongoing construction of a water system nearby.

Personnel of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System immediately responded to the scene and rushed the victim to General Malvar Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Further investigation is underway while the operator of the crane was placed under police custody.
