The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd Pangasinan Engineering District (PED) began the construction of the three-kilometer baywalk in Bonuan Tondaligan Beach here on Monday.

In an interview with Edita Manuel, officer-in-charge of the 2nd PED, a Notice to Proceed construction was immediately given after the bidding.

Manuel said the project has been funded with PHP45 million from the Department of Tourism for its first phase.

“We hope for this baywalk to be connected to both the Lingayen Baywalk and the San Fabian Beachfront," Manuel said.

"The whole project is worth PHP75 million and will be constructed in two phases," Manuel added.

She said the DPWH expects the project to be finished within a year.
