CAMP V. LIM, Laguna — The Police Regional Office in CALABARZON (Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon) has a total 765 assorted firearms and 1765 ammunition confiscated from the start of the implementation of Commission on Election (COMELEC) resolution no. 10197 or known as Ban on Bearing, Carrying or Transporting of Firearms or Other Deadly weapons regarding 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, director of the PRO4A said that the said confiscation was recorded for the period from April 14 to May 5, 2018.
Eleazar said that out 765, the 127 assorted firearms were confiscated with 22 bladed weapons, three replicas, two grenades and 1073 assorted ammunition.
He added that a total of 150 persons were arrested, two of which were PNP member, one village chairman and one security guard while the rest were civilians.
Eleazar also said that the confiscated items were the result of the vigorous and intensified checkpoint, police patrol and response, buy-bust, Oplan Sita, Implementation of Search Warrant, Internal Security and other police operations conducted by PRO4A.
Also, a total of 638 assorted firearms and 692 ammunition were turned-over for safekeeping by some candidates, village officials, businessmen, and other civilians.
