The first batch of former drug dependents under Manila’s “Sagip Buhay, Sagip Pangarap” drug treatment project has completed the six-month drug rehabilitation program, the Manila City government announced.
Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada has given the 39 former drug dependents a certificate of completion at the Bulwagang Villegas, Manila City Hall on April 27.
Estrada said that with the high rate of drug users in the city, the city government will remain determined in its campaign against illegal drugs.
Estrada also thanked Manila Health Department (MHD) chief Dr. Benjamin Yson, the Manila Council and barangay officials for their collective effort in making the drug rehabilitation program a success.
The program, spearheaded by Dr. Benjamin Yson, provides rehabilitation services to thousands of drug surrenderers from 896 barangays in Manila.
