The Mandaluyong Tigers clawed the Caloocan Supremos, 74-66, and secured their third straight win in the 2018 16-and-under Metro Basketball Tournament of the Metro Manila Sports Fest, Monday, Apr. 30, at the Navotas Sports Complex.

The Tigers took advantage of Caloocan’s 31 turnovers as they converted their opponent’s errors into 33 points.

Mandaluyong had a fiery start building an 11-point lead in the opening quarter, while holding Caloocan to a lowly 9-point heading into the second. Caloocan never had the lead and an 11-4 run in the fourth was not even enough to keep them within striking distance.

Jayson Arceo of the Tigers led his squad to triumph by scoring 20 points, topping every scorer in the game. Lhoriel Flores is the only other player to score in double digits for Mandaluyong with his 10-point performance.

Meanwhile, guard Kyle Rivera of Caloocan was his team’s top scorer listing 19 points to go along with his 13 rebounds.

The Tigers rise to 5-1 after cementing themselves as one of the top teams in the league. Caloocan, on the other hand, crashes to 2-4 after today’s loss.

MBT action resumes for both teams on Wednesday at the Oreta Sports Complex, in Malabon. The Tigers will try to extend their streak against the struggling Shoelanders, while the Supremos will play against home team Malabon Champs.
