Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, Police Regional Office 2 director, immediately issued orders after the bloody killing of Mark Anthony Ventura, parish priest of San Isidro Labrador mission station based at Barangay Mabuno, Gattaran Cagayan and a resident of Barangay Narungan, Tuao, Cagayan.

Earlier report said the victim was in the process of blessing the children and choir members, when a male person wearing a helmet coming from the back of the gymnasium suddenly shot the victim in the head and chest that led to his death and immediately fled with his companion on board a motorcycle toward east direction heading to Baggao, Cagayan.

Espino also ordered the activation of Special Investigation Task Group-Ventura to fast-track the investigation on the killing of the priest. PNP also conducted an ocular inspection on the place where the killing happened.

“I have ordered my men to conduct thorough investigation for the possible identification and apprehension of suspects the soonest possible time,” Espino added.
