UnionBank wins more Anvils during the 53rd Anvil Awards Gabi ng Parangal last March 23 at Shangri-La at the Fort.

The Bank received 2 Silver Anvils for UnionBank’s 2016 Annual Report entitled “A Higher Purpose”, and for the launch of EON by UnionBank, the first ever Selfie Banking in Asia.

For the past 16 years, the Bank has used its Annual Report as a primary storytelling platform for sharing not only its financial performance but more so its corporate culture.  Its 2016 Annual Report continues this tradition in unfolding UnionBank’s ongoing story.  The theme “A Higher Purpose” is more than just a value proposition of what the Bank delivers to its customers but a journey taken together with its customers built on a foundation of trust, empathy and shared values.  As Chairman Justo A. Ortiz says, “every instance anyone engages UnionBank, they are not asking what the Bank does but really asking who UnionBank is.  This shared higher purpose is the outcome that UnionBank, its employees and its stakeholders are aspiring for and working toward together.”

Meanwhile, EON by UnionBank received its first-ever Anvil for its media launch entitled, EON: Co-creating the Future. Launched in early 2017, EON by UnionBank offers a truly delightful banking experience. It incorporates new cutting-edge features such as; Selfie Banking feature which uses state-of-the-art facial recognition technology to access your account, Open Banking feature which allows customers to register and do in-app transactions using a non-EON VISA card, and Lock-card feature where customers can lock their cards using the EON app or website.

“EON was built on Co-Creation. This is what we celebrated during our relaunch of EON. The award is a validation for us to continue involving our market in our creative process. The capabilities we built and are continuing to build are a direct response to consumer needs which are gathered through EON’s board of co-creators, men and women from a diverse range of fields that work side by side with the EON team,” Paolo Baltao, UnionBank SVP and EON Head Advocate, said.

The annual Anvil Awards is presented by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines to honor outstanding PR programs and tools. The awards are given to excellent projects after a stringent screening process by select PR professionals and a distinguished multi-sectoral jury.
