MBT: Geralao wins it for Green Berets

The Paranaque Green Berets outlasted the Pateros Mighty Ducks, 66-64, in a slugfest in the 2018 16-and-under Metro Basketball Tournament of the Metro Manila Sports Fest at the Paranaque Sports Complex.

Yujin Geralao of the Paranaque was today’s hometown hero as he made a game-winning layup to put his team up by a pair with two seconds remaining in the game.

In the final possession, the Green Berets pressured the Mighty Ducks which led to a forced turnover as the final buzzer went off.

Mike Jake Capulong led Paranaque in production with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Yan Allen Tacaldo recorded a double-double of his own with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Angelo Salonga led the Mighty Ducks with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Dennis Delfonso contributed 11 points and eight boards. Pateros captain Julian Jugo also added 10 points coming off the bench.

The win propels Paranaque to 5-1, bouncing back from a previous loss to Taguig. The Mighty Ducks, meanwhile, trips to 4-2 after suffering a second consecutive setback.

MBT action continues for the Green Berets when they return on Labor Day, May 1 against the MMDA Jr. Blackwolves at Hagonoy Gym, in Taguig.

Pateros will have a long break after today and will return on Thursday, May 3, when they take on the San Juan Whatta Whatta at Pasay Sports Complex.
