80,000 jobs up for grabs on Labor Day

Good news to jobseekers.

Nearly 80,000 local and overseas job openings will be made available to job hunters during the job and business fair of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on May 1, Labor Day.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said this is the government’s way of “paying tribute” and “giving honor” to the Filipino workforce.

According to DOLE, a total of 829 participating employers (666 local and 163 overseas) will be bringing with them 78,675 local, overseas, and government jobs.

The top local jobs with the most number of vacancies are for soldier (AFP/PNP) – 4,002; customer service representative – 1,470; production worker/factory worker – 1,443; mason (finishing/rough) – 1,385; call center agent – 1,306; production machine operator – 1,288; construction worker – 900; BJMP (government) – 889; service crew – 880; and carpenter (finishing/rough) – 708.

For those seeking overseas employment, the top vacancies are as follows: nurses – 3,988; technicians – 1,546; food and beverage staffers – 689; engineers (mechanical, electrical, civil) – 344; production /factory workers – 300; sales associate professionals – 200; construction workers – 200; assistant head managers – 174; cooks – 157; drivers (general) – 150; and housekeeping attendants – 123.

The Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) job and business fairs organized jointly by the DOLE and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will be held at 53 sites.

Job fair venues

In the National Capital Region (NCR), the venues are the Valenzuela Astrodome, Valenzuela City; Robinsons, Las Pinas City; Pasig City (April 27); San Juan City (April 21); Cuneta Astrodome (May 10); Quezon City Hall grounds; and Fisher Mall, Quezon City (date to be determined).

In Luzon: Baguio City National High School – Main Campus in the Cordillera Administrative Region; Robinsons Ilocos Norte; Pangasinan PESO Compound, Lingayen in Region 1; Robinsons Mall, Santiago City, Isabela; Baler, Aurora; Balanga City, Bataan; and Harbor Point Mall, Subic, Zambales in Region 3.

There will be job and business fair sites also in Calamba, Laguna (Region 4A); Bansud, Oriental Mindoro; Pacific Mall, Legazpi City (Region 5).

Jobseekers in the Visayas region may visit the TNK sites in Marymart, Iloilo City (Region 6); IC3 Pavillion, Cebu City (Region 7); and Tacloban Convention Center, and Ormoc City Hall, Tacloban City (Region 8).

In Mindanao, the identified job fair sites are in Zamboanga Economic Zone, Talisayan, Zamboanga City; KCC Mall, Zamboanga City; City Hall Lobby, Isabela City; Plaza Luz, Pagadian City; and Ipil Municipal Covered Court, Zamboanga Sibugay (Region 9); Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City (Region 10); Gaisano Mall of Davao; SM City General Santos (Region 12); and Hotel OAZIS, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte (CARAGA).
