26 out of 168 barangays in Compostela Valley declared drug free

DAVAO CITY -- Authorities in Compostela Valley have cleared 26 out of the 168 barangays free from drugs, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

According to a report, the towns of Laak, Mawab, and Monkayo have four barangays each now considered free from drugs.

Three of the barangays come from New Bataan, while two barangays come from Pantukan and Montevista.

The PNP added that Compostela, Mabini, Maco, Maragusan, and Nabunturan have one barangays each cleared of drugs.

The Provincial government, meanwhile, said it has graduated 1,846 surrenderers who applied for Oplan Liwanag, a community-based rehabilitation and reformation program in the province.

There are 2,219 illegal drug surrenderers who are still in the program.

The provincial government said it has recorded 16,536 reformists who volunteered to be rehabilitated by the government program.
