La Union fruit vendor sells ‘shabu’, too

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – A fruit vendor was collared by police Saturday afternoon in Barangay Pagdalagan, San Fernando City for allegedly selling “shabu,” too.

Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinando Jr., La Union police information officer, said Allan Rey Loma, of Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, is not your usual fruit vendor as 50 grams of shabu was allegedly found in his possession.

Ordinando said Loma fell in a buy-bust operation conducted by joint elements of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Using marked money, an undercover agent bought a sachet of shabu from Loma, who is listed by anti-narcotics authorities as a high-value target (HVT).

Upon his arrest, Loma yielded a box filled with fruits which contained the 50 grams of shabu estimated to cost about P300,000.

The suspect denied selling shabu and, in his defense, said he did not know that the box of fruits he was carrying had the illegal substance in it.
