Suba rules Petron karting

JC Mozo, right, of series sponsor Petron Corp. awarded the trophies.VJ Suba pipped prodigious female karter Bianca Bustamante and fierce rival John Dizon in the final race to top the ROK GP Senior Petron Blaze 100 class in the first leg of the 2018 Petron Super Karting Series at Carmona Race Track in Cavite recently.

Suba timed 18 minutes and 28.79 seconds in the 25-lap race to prevail by 1.3 seconds over Bustamante, the winner of two ROK Cup races in China last year. Dizon placed third 3.56 seconds back.

Entered in the junior class of the combined race with the senior, master and veteran karters, Bustamante settled for the Junior Petron Blaze 100 title, besting Jarred Kim and Tammy Baisa.

Veteran Jerry Choi finished fifth in the combined final race and settled for the Master title over Anthony Baisa and Arvin Drueco, as well as the Veteran crown over Ephraim Mandal.

Joharry Suba triumphed in the 12-lap combined final race of the Novice and Expert classes over Miguel Angeles, Seb Kawpeng, William Calleja and Vortex Suba to seize the Formula Cadet overall and Expert titles.

Kawpeng bagged the Cadel Novice crown over Calleja, Vortex Suba and Brice Vincent Baisa. Angeles beat Joharry Suba to the Mini ROK title.
