Youngjae from the South Korean boyband ‘Got7’ commemorated the fourth-year anniversary of the Sewol Ferry tragedy by releasing a cover of “You Who I Love” — a song written by one of the victims of the incident, Lee Da Woon.
This was not the first time that Youngjae did a version of the song. Earlier this year, he also sang “You Who I Love” at 2018 Golden Disk Awards.
Lee, a student of Danwon High School and aspiring musician, was among the 304 out of 476 passengers who passed away from the Sewol Ferry tragedy last April 16, 2014.
The student recorded “You Who I Love” on his phone, and was later on discovered by renowned South Korean R&B group ‘4Men’ which released the song.
After the incident, many K-pop groups released tribute songs for the victims, among them, were Red Velvet with “One of these Nights,” F(x) with “Red Light,” and THE ARK with “The Light”.
