Power of 6, composed of experienced professional singers, is fast-gaining ground in the music scene thanks to their seamless vocal harmonies.

The vocal ensemble is led by Marvin Velasquez, a bossa nova male singer with UK label ties and considerable international exposure. His digitally released track “Tabing Dagat” went viral on a Spanish channel.

The group appeared on TV for the first time last March 14 as guest on Net25’s “Pambansang Almusal.” It is the lead-act to a tribute show on April 14 (7 pm at Teatrino in Greenhills, San Juan) for composer-performer Jun Mallillin who passed away recently. The late musical figure wrote the Boyfriends classic “Dahil Mahal Kita.”

Three of the group’s six members were all recipients of long-stretch exposures on ABS-CBN’s “Showtime.” Jazz crooner Rico Garcia and soul singer John Raymundo excelled on “Tawag Ng Tanghalan”, with Rico holding on as eight-time defending champ while John defending his streak seven times.

Edwin Cando made it as grand finalist on “Stars on 45.”

Velasquez, who collaborates with London-based songwriter-producer Rusty Mallillin and the latter’s nephew Port through the label-events company Side Projects, related, “Six heads are definitely better than one. We always believe that things will fall into reality if you put your heart into it. No issues, just pure love for music and the willingness to share it.”

Completing the Power of 6 lineup are John Sandoval, a multi-winner of numerous singing contests, and Ronie Golez who is a vocal coach at Center for Pop.
