The appointment paper of Albayalde was signed by the President Friday, April 13, a week after announcing he would be the country’s next top cop.

Albayalde, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) class of 1986, will take the place of Police chief Ronald dela Rosa who is expected to retire from an extended service this month.

The President earlier explained that he chose Albayalde because he is known to be a strict police official. “The stricter, the better,” he said.

Apart from the new PNP chief, the President appointed Paul Chua as new deputy administrator of the Light Rai Transit Authority, replacing Emerson Benitez.

His appointment paper was signed last April 6.

Duterte also approved the promotion of Capt. Teotimo Borja Jr. as commodore in the Philippine Coast Guard. The promotion was approved on Friday.
