Hands-on that he is, Christian Bautista is surprised by the rigmarole of wedding preparations. Of course the singer is not complaining – he’s up for the task and definitely enjoys it.
The guy got engaged to non-showbiz girlfriend Kat Ramnani October last year. In a recent interview with Bulletin Entertainment, Christian said they will exchange “I Do’s” by the end of the year. He dis not give the exact date, though, as “sobrang dami pang inaasikaso.”
“Ang dami palang kailangan gawin, ang daming kailangang ayusin,” he enthused. “May naka-set na kaming date but hindi pa namin ma-announce. Hindi pa din kasi napipirmahan ‘yung mga kontrata, like ‘yung mga papers sa munisipyo. Pero kapag malinis na lahat ‘yun, we’ll definitely announce it (wedding date).”
They will most likely release a Save the Date video by October. Christian also shared they will wear Francis Libiran creations. The wedding will be in Manila.
The singer expressed excitement over the matter, saying it is the “next stage of my life.” He described his future wife as very supportive, smart and caring.
“She’s a great person!” he said with eyes glowing. “Many people ask me what I look forward to post marriage. Ang sinasabi ko palagi, it’s all about the companionship and the partnership. ‘Yung feeling na may makakasama ka for the rest of your life, may katabi ka pagkagising. It’s not just you who will taste every challenge alone, magiging unit na kayo and you will spend quality time together.”
The two don’t plan to have a baby right away. Christian related they want to savor their marriage first.
The singer said work will still be at the top of their priority list after the wedding as he believes doing so will help keep their marriage on even keel.
“It’s always balanced dapat. We should always give importance to our career kasi we need our careers para maging maayos ang pamilyang binubuo natin. ‘Di ba kailangan mag-save for the future? So I don’t think, marriage will stop us from pursuing our wants and dreams.”
It has been 15 years since Christian began serenading his way into show business. Todsy, he is a top recording artist not just in the Philippines, but in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
The 36-year-old singer admitted living up to his success pressures him in some ways.
“Mahirap mabigyan ng title kasi you always have to ‘do’ the title and parang you should do your best every year,” Asia’s Romantic Balladeer said.
Nonetheless, Christian said he will just keep singing and will let the people decide if he is worth the title.
“Ganu’n naman eh. You do your best but it’s always up to the audience. Hindi naman pwedeng idikta mo sa kanila na eto ako, ganito ako. Ang importante gawin mo ‘yung best mo and I’m sure ma-a-appreciate nila ‘yun.”
Christian is part of the second and third leg of the concert series, “3 Stars, 1 heart” held in Dagupan on April 14 then in Dubai on June 16. The first leg was held in Cebu last January. Christian shares the stage with Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Julie Anne San Jose.
Christian thinks the show became successful also because of their camaraderie.
“Mapapansin niyo naman parang palagi lang kaming nagku-kwentuhan lang (ng mga kasama ko sa show). I guess napi-feel ng mga tao na may mutual respect kami sa isa’t-isa,” he said. “I admire Ate Reg so much. Team players kaming lahat dito. Nagtutulungan like nu’ng minsan natanggal ‘yung monitor, inayos namin. Lahat ginagawa namin para mapaganda ‘yung show. Teamwork.”
Christian wishes to bring “3 Stars, 1 heart” to the US.
