Authorities re-arrest 12 escaped detainees

Zamboanga City – Police authorities in this city have recovered 12 detainees who were among the 17 inmates who were able to escape the detention cell of the Tetuan Police Station in at dawn Tuesday.

Police Director for Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) Chief Supt  Billy Beltran said the 17 detainees, all facing drug charges, bolted the Tetuan jail at about 2:50am, Tuesday.

Police investigation disclosed that the inmates made good their escape when detainee William Pajardo was able to cut through the lock of their detention cell with a saw while the policemen on-duty were fast asleep.

The police identified the others who escaped as Nadzar Hack, Rio De Asis, Arkham Ignacio, Adzmir Ibrahim, Lexandrus Manog, Junie Boy Rodriguez, Oscar Baguinda, Roger Mark Vincent Ragas, Haibi Sandain, Al-Fermin Saddam, Emmanuel Matulac, Adzri Zuhuri, Jezreel Salazar, Sulayman Sali, Jeremy Maruji and Chuck Lorence Tarangda.

Responding policemen were able to immediately recovered Pajarado, Pagasa, Baguinda and  Salazar, while follow-up operations led to the recapture of eight others.

Beltran said the policemen, who were on-duty during the escape of the detainees, will be investigated, and could be facing administrative sanction for negligence of duty.
