The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said search and rescue operations have been launched.

This incident was one of the four sea incidents reported over the weekend in some key summer destinations in the country, Coast Guard said.

According to the PCG, the distressed AIVA 5 manned by the 17 Filipino crewmen drifted off Nasugbu, Batangas on Sunday.

Capt. Armand Balilo, PCG spokesman, said the PCG’s rescue aircraft was sent to the area Monday morning for search and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, three other sea mishaps were reported in Palawan, Camarines Norte and Samar over the weekend, where a total of 43 tourists were rescued.

14 passengers and crew of a motorized boat managed to swim to shore in El Nido Palawan after the vessel drifted and sank.
