Tagbilaran City – The relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus arrived here Saturday from Talibon and will be available for public veneration this afternoon, according to Tagbilaran Diocese Bishop Alberto “Abet” Uy.

The bishop urged the Boholano faithful to take advantage of the opportunity to venerate the relics of the saint in her visit.

The relics will stay in Tagbilaran for a night and will depart by Monday morning.

It is expected devotees will troop to the St. Joseph’s Cathedral to venerate the relics.

The relics were brought to Bohol in 2008 at the Our Lady of the Assumption parish in Dauis town.

Back then, a miracle was attributed to St. Therese of the Child Jesus when the catch of fishermen ballooned significantly following a fluvial procession as the relics were transported from Dauis to Tagbilaran.

The fish supply was so abundant, many fishermen had to give away part of their catch, said local newspaper columnist and priest Fr. Jose Sumampong.

Back in February, throngs of Boholanos paid their respects to the visiting Birhen sa Simala, attracting long lines of devotees waiting for their turn to see the image of the Blessed Mother.
