Bontoc, Mountain Province — Contingents from this highland province’s 10 municipalities will compete this weekend in the 14th Lang-ay Festival – a cultural showcase highlighting yesterday’s celebration of the 51st founding anniversary of Mountain Province.

Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan said he expects the contingents to come in their colorful native costumes with pride as they liven up the grand civic parade and grand cultural presentation today in this capital town under the theme “Nurturing the Homeland, Keeping Cultures Alive.”

Lacwasan said “Lang-ay,” in the local dialect, means “to share” all good things such as “happiness, wisdom, promote family solidarity, hospitality, peace, and friendships”

Other highlights of the celebration are exhibits and an agro-industrial fair, and home-cultured (native) wine called “tapuey.”
