Butuan City – The 11th staging of the prestigious Siargao International Game Fishing Tournament in “Paradise Island” of Siargao is all set next week.
The five-day event will opens April 12 and will end April 16, is expected to draw the world’s top anglers from Russia, United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, and Europe.
Last year’s staging saw over 80 local and international anglers vying for the top prizes in the annual meet.
“Everything is ready and all the different committees started to function so that all the needs of the anglers including tourists, guests, and visitors will be properly attended to,” assured Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol F. Matugas.
Siargao Island, already considered the surfing capital of the Philippines, is now also the game fishing capital of the country, claimed the provincial chief executive, in a phone interview with The Manila Bulletin on Monday.
