After a successful leg in Indonesia and Thailand, Sennheiser has brought the Sound Forum in the Philippines to tackle about all things audio.

Aimed to suffice the growing demand for an exceptional sound experience, the Sennheiser Sound Forum is an informational series with insights from the company’s decades of expertise in audio. Topics include selecting the right headphones, gaming trends in the Philippines, selecting microphones for audio-for-video applications, caring for headphones and microphones, and a peek into the 3D audio from the Sennheiser AMBEO program.

As shared by Sennheiser Asia Managing Director Martin Low, “This Sennheiser Sound Forum is a Sennheiser-owned initiative that renews our audio leadership efforts and commitment to our users. This inaugural edition in Manila is a reflection of culmination of extensive product development and market research, staying true to our vision of pioneering the future of audio.”

While most people tend to focus on design and ergonomics when buying headphones, Sennheiser Asia Senior Product Manager Kuan Wee Hong emphasized that impedance matching is one important thing to consider.

“Impedance matching is basically trying to match the headphone to the music source or the player that you use. Let’s say when a music player has an impedance of up to 120 ohm, you should look for an earphone or a headphone with the same impedance level,” Kuan Wee Hong told the Manila Bulletin Tech News at the sidelines of the Sennheiser Sound Forum event held in Makati City.

“Why is this important? It’s because if the headphone’s impedance is too high, for example, the issue you will face will be the volume sound will be soft. But let’s say, when my player has high impedance, and my headphones has lower impedance, the issue will be over-sensitivity and there will be distortion on the music that you hear. It doesn’t sound the way it should be,” he added.

“This is why we advice customers to look for a headphone that matches impedance both ways because with this, you’ll be able to get the best performance,” the executive furthered.

The Sennheiser Sound Forum also hosted testimonies from Sennheiser Sound Heroes who were able to use a range of the British audio company’s products. Present in the event are three of the 12 Sound Heroes comprised of celebrities and influencers, radio DJ Jazmin Reyes, concert photographer Magic Liwanag, and singer-radio DJ Dannie Farmer.
