(ADVISORY) DPWH to conduct road reblocking in EDSA

Motorists must expect heavy traffic along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) as the Department of Public Works and Highways will start road reblockings Friday night, March 23, the Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recently bared.

Jose Arturo “Jojo” Garcia, MMDA OIC general manager, said that portions of EDSA that need repairs will be closed on weekends, and will be open everyMonday.

He advised the public to take Mabuhay lanes as alternate routes, avoiding the ancipated congestion on EDSA these coming days.

The road re-blockings are from Nepa Q Mart to GMA Kamuning (Northbound), and from Tuazon to Aurora (Southbound).

He said the first road re-blocking on EDSA will start on Friday, March 23 at 11 p.m., and will be passable again next week on Monday, March 26 at 5 a.m.

The other re-blockings are scheduled: April 6 , and will be passable on April 10April 20, and will be passable April 23; and April 27, and will be passable onApril 30.

All re-blockings will start every 11 p.m. of Friday, he said.

“We are announcing this so that the public will not use EDSA and take the alternate routes----the Mabuhay lanes. Any obstruction in EDSA can cause heavy traffic, and this road re-blockings will surely cause heavy traffic,” he said during a press conference.

Garcia said that they are continues in clearing alternate routes for around 300 thousand motorists who are passing EDSA.
