Jerwin Ancajas and fellow Boxer of the Year awardees Milan Melindo and Marlon Tapales head a cast of Philippine and international champions who will be honored in the 18th Annual Gabriel "Flash" Elorde Memorial Awards and Banquet of Champions on March 25 at the Grand Ballroom of the Okada Manila.
Nine Philippine champions, including lady boxer Gretel de Paz (bantamweight) and 39 international and regional titleholders led by Elorde scions Juan Miguel Elorde (WBO AsPac super bantam) and Juan Martin Elorde ( WBO Oriental lightweight), comprise the Class of 2017.
International, regional and continental champions, who will occupy an exclusive place in the Banquet of Champions, reigned across nine divisions of the world’s boxing organizations, with four in the minimum weight , six in light flyweight, five in flyweight, seven in super fly, five in bantam, two in super bantam, five in featherweight, three in super feather and two in lightweight.
