Donnie Nietes, who likens himself to a wine that gets better with age, is eyeing a fourth world title in as many weight class in September.
Coming off an emphatic knockout win over Argentine mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Reveco in Los Angeles, Nietes yesterday expressed his desire to take on the big names as he attempts to add the super-fly (115 lbs) title to his collection of minimumweight (105), light-fly (108) and fly (112).
“I want to fight the big names,” said Nietes during a victory party held at the ABS-CBN headquarters.
The marquee names include Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand, Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico or Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua but Nietes would love to go after a world title.
Michael Aldeguer, who promotes Nietes, said the crack at a fourth world title will be in September in the US.
Despite his being 35 years old, Nietes insists he feels fresh.
“Parang alak yan…habang tumatagal,” he said as the crowd cheered.
