Tacloban City – A man took his former lover hostage as she worked in her office in this city Thursday, the Police Regionl Office (PRO) in Eastern Visayas reported.
The man, who has been identified as Maximillan Montayre, was talked into releasing his captive, Maria Victoria Sia, a 28-year-old sales consultant of Tata Motors, and surrendering to the police, according to police regional information officer, Bella Rentuaya.
Montayre and Sia lived together until she complained of being maltreated by her partner. Sia subsequently was granted a Barangay Protection Order (BPO) against Montayre.
Last Tuesday Montayre went to Sia’s office to make amends and to ask her to have the BPO lifted.
When Sia refused he held a gun to her head and dragged her into a room.
Sia’s fellow employees called the police and responding officers tried to convince Montayre to release her.
Montayre demanded that the police call his employer, Michael Espinosa, 41, a scrap buyer.
Espinosa was able to talk Montayre into freeing Sia.
Montayre was arrested and detained.
