Riverdale stars call out magazine for photoshopping their bodies

Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes --- who plays Betty and Veronica in Riverdale, respectively ---  expressed their disappointment on a magazine who allegedly photoshopped their waists.

Reinhart, in her Instagram stories, posted photos of her and Mendes from their Cosmopolitan US February cover which were reused by Cosmopolitan Philippines on their page. She pointed out that Cosmo PH edited their photos to make their waists look slimmer.

“Camila and I have worked incredibly hard to feel confident and comfortable in the bodies that we have”, Reinhart stated. “And to see our bodies become so distorted in an editing process is a perfect example of obstacles we have yet to overcome.”

Riverdale's Betty  added that she believes that women are "powerful, beautiful, and strong – and women should not hide behind photoshop to conform to beauty standards."

Calling out the magazine, Reinhart said “It’s sad that you felt our bodies needed to be slimmed down. But Camila and I are beautiful. As is. And you can’t ‘fix’ us.”

Reinhart then encouraged women to “go kick some ass.”

“You are being heard. You are strong and sensational.”

In a separate post, Mendes said, “We want their readers to know that those bodies are not ours; they have been distorted from their natural beauty.”

“We prefer to see our bodies the way they actually are. I’m not interested in having a slimmer waist, I’m more satisfied with the one that I already have.” Mendes added.
