June Mar Fajardo is on pace to break the all-time record for most number of Best Player of the Conference awards.
The 6-foot-10 star of the San Miguel Beermen compiled 44.1 Statistical Points in 10 games to put himself in a good position to capture a fourth straight best player plum in the PBA’s preeminent tournament and sixth overall that will break the tie with former teammate Danny Ildefonso.
Another BPC trophy in the Philippine Cup would boost Fajardo’s bid to become the first player ever to win five PBA Most Valuable Player awards. He is currently tied with Ramon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio for most all-time with four apiece.
The Philippine Cup carries a big weight as far as the MVP race is concerned, along with votes from the players, media and the PBA Commissioner’s Office.
Meanwhile, NLEX’s Kiefer Ravena leads all rookies in SPs at 27.0, with Alaska’s Jeron Teng in second at 25.2, with Phoenix’s Jason Perkins (22.3), Blackwater’s Raymar Jose (20.3) and Magnolia’s Robbie Herndon (15.8) rounding out the top five.
