“We are calling (on) the public to defend the life of our brothers and sisters who are weak and defenseless, and fight all forms of threats against the dignity and sanctity of life. Let us all remember that our life is the most precious gift of the Almighty Father, and through His words we must stand,” Radio Veritas president and Caritas Manila executive director Father Anton Pascual said.

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle earlier encouraged the faithful to participate in the annual event which calls for the protection and preservation of life.

His Eminence will lead the Holy Mass at the Quirino Grandstand at 7 a.m.

Church-run Radio Veritas, the leading faith-based AM radio station in Mega Manila, will air the event live.

Organized by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference the Philippines though its lay arm Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas (SLP), Walk for Life aims to uphold the dignity of life and reiterate the lay people’s stand against the proposed re imposition of death penalty and the continuous extra-judicial killings that are happening in the name of war against drugs.
