One hundred official Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) vehicles will be fitted with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sticker tags by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) for faster mobilization, MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim said.
MPTC and MMDA officials yesterday signed an agreement at the MMDA headquarters in Makati City.
“With the RFID stickers, our emergency vehicles can pass through gates without rolling windows down and pay for a ticket manually,” Lim said.
In the MOA, it was agreed upon that the MPTC will install RFID sticker tags on MMDA vehicles bearing an initial load of R500.
The 100 vehicles with RFID sticker tags can use the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) toll areas in the north and Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) in the south for free.
The cities that can be accessed through Cavitex are Muntinlupa, Parañaque and Las Piñas while NLEX covers the cities of Caloocan and Valenzuela.
