San Beda now a university

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Wednesday formally announced that San Beda College has been granted University status after undergoing evaluation and passing the rigid standards set by the Commission.

In a statement issued by CHED Officer-in-Charge and Spokesperson J. Prospero De Vera III, he announced that the Commission granted University Status to San Beda College-Manila during its 501st Joint Management Committee and Commission en Banc (ManCom-CEB) meeting held recently.

De Vera said that San Beda College-Manila “complied with the requirements” for the University Status as stated in CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 46, series of 2012 entitled “Policy-Standard to Enhance Quality Assurance (QA) in Philippine Higher Education Through an Outcomes-Based and Typology-Based QA.”

“As a University, San Beda College-Manila is expected to contribute to nation-building by providing highly-specialized educational experiences to train experts in the various technical and disciplinal areas, and by emphasizing the development of new knowledge and skills through research and development,” De Vera said.
