Iloilo, Guimaras power interruptions

Iloilo City — An almost half-day power interruption affected Iloilo City, certain parts of Iloilo province and the island province of Guimaras Saturday.

This was mostly due to maintenance activities undertaken by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) at its 69-kilovolt station.

Michelle Visera, Western Visayas regional corporate communications officer, said affected areas in Iloilo City under Panay Electric Co. (PECO) are in Baldoza, LaPaz district; General Luna, City Proper; and Molo district.

Affected areas in Iloilo province include those under Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO-I), specifically, in several barangays in Leganes and Sta. Barbara towns.

“We requested the shutdown of PECO’s line as their line overlaps with ours. Same with ILECO-I,” added Visera.

The five towns in Guimaras province under the franchise area of Guimaras Electric Cooperative (GUIMELCO) were also affected.  Some customers have already complained of power blackouts as early as Friday.
