Davao City – A post from a lensman from the Presidential Photographers Division (PPD) has gone viral after he shared a lighthearted story about his toilet encounter with President Rodrigo Duterte onboard the presidential plane upon arrival in New Delhi in India.
Robinson Niñal said he was both amused and embarrassed by the situation.
“Share rako sa ako experience ha maninood baya dayon mo (I’d just like to share my experience),” Niñal said in a Facebook post.
Niñal said he was at the doorway where President Duterte was supposed to emerge from the plane to a welcoming party at the New Delhi airport when the President said he had to go to the bathroom.
Duterte asked his Presidential Security Group (PSG) detail if it was time to deplane.
“Sir nag ki-clear pa,” the PSG said.
“Kaihion na ko. Ngihi usa ko, (I have to pee first)” Niñal quoted the President as saying.
Feeling heroic, Niñal knocked on the door of the occupied lavatory and urged the person inside to hurry up, totally unaware that it was the President waiting outside.
Niñal was reprimanded by President Duterte.
“Ayaw! Ikaw daw naa sa sulod tapos toktokun ka, maputol imo ihi dikaha ka saputon? Kusion noon taka (Don’t! What if it were you, wouldn’t you get pissed off? I would pinch you!)”
Duterte and Niñal are both from Davao City, where Niñal used to work as a photographer for a local newspaper.
Niñal’s post has been shared almost 2,000 times.
