Pasig junkie nabbed

An armed man, partial to wearing shirts with”Pulis” marking, was caught with P15,000 worth of suspected shabu Wednesday afternoon in Pasig City while three other suspects, who attempted to help him escape, were also arrested.

Police identified the suspects as Odon Monderin, 43, Lymun Jimenez, 27, Dominic Bazar, 37, and Wilfredo Justine, 42.

Police Chief Superintendent Orlando Yebra, chief of Pasig City Police, told Manila Bulletin that concerned citizens in Sitio Tawi-tawi, Barangay Sta. Lucia, had informed the police of a man armed with a gun while wearing a shirt with a ‘Pulis’ marking.

At around 1:50 p.m., authorities immediately conducted ‘Operation Galugad’ in the area. The responding police officers then saw Monderin as the informers had described.

According to authorities, Monderin failed to produce legitimate proof as a police officer and no license for his .38 caliber firearm, prompting the officers to arrest him.

Yebra said 30 plastic sachets of shabu worth P12,000, and four .38 caliber ammunition were found in his possession following his arrest.

Jimenez, Bazar, and Justine, Monderin’s customers, reportedly interfered with the operation and tried to facilitate Monderin’s escape from the officers but to no avail. The three suspects were also arrested.

Seven plastic sachets of suspected shabu were seized from the three suspects.

Yebra said Monderin had been claiming he was a police officer among his neighbors.

“Nagpapakilala siya na pulis doon (sa barangay nila),” Yebra said.

Yebra confirmed the suspect was on the drug watch list since last year, but the latter was only known then as ‘Pulis.’

The suspects will be charged with Possession of Illegal Drugs, Illegal Possession of Firearms, and Obstruction of Apprehension and Prosecution of Criminal Offenders. (Gabriel Agcaoili)
