8 suspected drug peddlers nabbed during buy-bust ops in Makati

Eight suspected drug peddlers were apprehended after police conducted a buy-bust operation in Makati City Monday night.

Police identified the suspects as Carlito Ordoñez , 58; Edna Narciso, 24; Analisa Ramos, 38; Christopher Garcia, 32; Ronil Ramos, 36; June Anastacio, 44; Jeffrey Roy, 31; and Jonathan Dionisio, 37.

Initial investigation revealed that Makati City police conducted a drug sting operation at around 9:45 p.m. along Fortune Street, Barangay Rizal Makati City which led to the arrest of the eight suspects.

Police recovered from the scene five small sachets of suspected shabu, and seven small opened plastic sachets with traces of suspected shabu.

Several drug paraphernalia were also recovered, including one improvised glass pipe, two disposable lighters, three aluminum foil strips used as improvised pipes, and one used foil strip with suspected shabu residue.

Cases in violation of Sec. 5 and Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the eight suspects. (Dhel Nazario)

3 minors arrested for cellphone theft

Three minors who snatched a cellphone from jeepney passengers were arrested in Tondo, Manila Monday night.

Tayuman Police Community Precinct chief Senior Inspector Ness Vargas identified the suspects as alias Michael, Christian and JM with ages ranging from aged 15 to 17 years.

The three snatched the cellphone of two jeepney passengers along Tayuman Street at 7 p.m.

Vargas said this is not the first time the minors were arrested for snatching.

“Kapag nakuha nila ‘yung cellphone, ipapasa nila sa kasama nila tapos lilipat lang sila ng lugar,” Vargas said.

Christian, on the other hand, admitted the crime and said he is being forced to do it and he is paid P500 for every cellphone.

Vargas said they also recovered marijuana from the suspects.

Meanwhile, the three will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. (Jaimie Rose Aberia)

Elderly woman dies after being hit by car

An elderly woman was killed after she was struck early this morning by an approaching car while crossing the street in front of the Villamor Airbase Golf Course in Pasay City.

SPO3 Frandy Laygo, investigator on case, identified the victim as 64-year-old Edith Rañola.

A certain John Vincent Canlas, who was at the area when the incident occurred, chased the vehicle in an attempt to jot down the plate number but was unable to do so.

Initial investigation revealed that at around 1 a.m. today, in front of the Villamor Air Base Golf Course going to the SLEX exit, the victim was crossing the road when the car, which came from Nichols Interchange heading to SLEX southbound, struck the victim head-on before fleeing to an unknown direction.

The vehicle was described as a red Toyota Vios.

Police said that due to the force of the impact, the victim was thrown to the center island resulting in serious physical injuries.

Rañola was rushed to the Villamor Air Base Hospital for treatment but was declared dead at 7:40 a.m.

Her body was then brought to Veronica Funeral Homes for safekeeping while police continue their investigation to try and locate the vehicle and the suspect. (Dhel Nazario)
