Cebu City – Vice Mayor Edgar Labella was chosen as the new president of the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party’s Cebu City Chapter.
Labella was sworn in Wednesday by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez in the presence of Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino, opposition Councilors Joel Garganera, Renato Osmeña Jr. Raymond Garcia, Philip Zafra, Jose Daluz III, former Councilor James Anthony Cuenco and former Bohol Mayor Ernest Herrera.
Labella told Manila Bulletin his focus now is bringing the programs of the administrations to Cebuanos.
He said he wanted to continue the fight against illegal drugs since and to campaign for the shift to a federal government, two priorities of the Duterte government.
Labella is considering in running as Cebu mayor. “There are many of us who are capable of running as mayor it’s the group that decides who will run but I’m seriously considering running as Mayor,” he said.
He said he sees future rivals in former Mayor Michael Rama and Councilor Joey Daluz.
Labella said Rama and Daluz belong to a PDP Laban coalition in Cebu with Barug Team Rama as their association.
