Parents and guardians of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV) students can now keep a closer eye on their chldren with the recent installation of modern ID system at the newly innaugurated campus in Barangay Maysan.

The inauguration ceremony of the P361.5-million, 1.7-hectare campus on Tonco Street  was led by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Davao City Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles and Valenzuela City Mayor Rexlon Gatchalian.

Aside from being a city-funded institution, the campus features high-tech amenities like the new PLV World card.

It is a radio frequency identification (RFID)-enabled card which, if tapped on a portal at the gates, would automatically send a text message to the parents informing them about their child's entry or exit from campus.

"Since we will be running three sites for PLV, it is important for parents and admin to track down where our students are at any given time. This is for safety and at the same time to ensure that they go to their classes," Mayor Gatchalian told the Manila Bulletin.

The PLV card also gives the students access to their online university records, class schedules and university libraries.

It is also a gateway for cashless transactions with the vendors inside the campus as it can be preloaded with cash.
