Pacquiao turns over 100 houses to poor in Sarangani town

Malungon, Sarangani – Senator Manny Pacquiao has turned over some 100 housing units to the local government here which were distributed to marginalized and homeless local residents here.

Mayor Municipal administrator Jessi dela Cruz  said the low-cost housing units were constructed on a 1.5 hectare property purchased by Pacquiao using personal funds in Barangay Poblacion here.

He said the housing units each costs some P100,000 will be distributed to beneficiaries, who are homeless and landless.

Mayor Tessa Constantino said the housing beneficiaries will be given titles for the property and will sign agreements pledging that they will not sell the property in the next 15 years.

She reminded the beneficiaries to take care of the property and houses which were funded out of the personal funds of Pacquiao.

The mayor also ordered village officials to maintain orderliness within the new housing community.

Roger Natad, one of the beneficiaries who is a person with disability, said his family was grateful to Pacquiao for providing them a house which they can call their own.

Before joining politics, Pacquiao served as chair of the municipal tourism council here.
